Day 89 Run Challenge

Boy it was tough to back up from yesterday’s workout. It was warm, muggy & raining the whole time, which didn’t help matters.

I ran 4.33 km in the 30 minutes at an average pace of 6:56 mins/km, average heart rate of 149 bpm.

That wasn’t too bad, but I followed it up with 3 km in 20:09 minutes at an average pace of 6:43 mins/km. My average heart rate for that was 165 bpm, demonstrating how hard I had to work to keep the right pace! Legs were really tired by the 2nd km of that second part, but they recovered somewhat by the end.

Managed to beat a downpour, so that was a bonus 🙂

Running in high humidity is strange – you think because you’re working so hard you must be going a decent pace, then you look at your watch and you’re going at your normal “easy” pace. Quite demoralising. But I guess part of that is because there’s so much moisture in the air, there’s less oxygen to process in each breath. Which would mean the training effect of muggy days should be similar to training at altitude. Fingers crossed lol.
