Run Challenge Day 51

It was a toss up whether to run in the early morning when it was warm or wait for the evening when it could possibly have cooled down or be stormy. Glad I waited. We had a few electrical storms during the day, so it was a lot cooler in the evening, but without rain. I ended up doing a lot more training than I would have if I’d gone in the morning.

Ran my second best time of this challenge at 4.3 km. It’s not my equal second best because the other time I ran a 4.3 km was when the heart rate monitor malfunctioned.

Ended up running 4.3 km in 30 minutes at an average pace of 6:59 mins/km (woohoo!), average heart rate of 151 bpm.

Followed that up with a 300 metre hill sprint on a 40 degree (11%) incline. I left the timer running after that so I would force myself to recover as I ran. Did the next km in 6:05 followed by a km of 5:46. My anterior tibialis fatigued from all the hill running, so I dropped to 7:03. Overall, including the sprint and recovery, I did 3.55 km in 21:31 at an average pace of 6:04 mins/km, average heart rate of 171 bpm. It got to 183 bpm during the hill sprint.

Pretty happy with today’s training 🙂
